Book Review: House of Night Series by P.C. and Kristin Cast

Vampires!! Vampires were big when the book Twilight came out and then the movies. I like Twilight just fine (just the first book, the others not so much). So if you liked Twilight or you like vampire books in general, you need to check out the series by mother-daughter duo called The House of Night series. This series consists of 12 books, 4 novellas, and4 related books. There is also a new book for continuing the series that came out this month.

This series does take a different idea into the origins of vampires. In the series, the way to become a vampire is that you are marked (which is also the title of the first book) with a crescent moon “tattoo” on their foreheads. They are called fledgling vampires. So this is not a traditional idea of vampires where you get bit and become a vampire. Vampires, in the series, do drink blood, but it is not their main source of food. They can eat regular food. They can also go out in the sun, but with a lot of sunscreen and some dark shades. When the student goes through the change their crescent moon turns into a full fledge design that relates to themselves or sometimes when the vampire goes through the change their body rejects it and they die. So this is definitely different then most vampire stories and that is why you should read it.

What I love about the series is that it is an easy read and each book leaves you off to where you want to read the next one to find out what happens. Below I listed a link to the author’s website for the books so you can take a look. I have also listed all the books if you just want to search for them.
